Rusty has had over 20 years experience in music. Able to play almost every instrument he picks up, he has always had a passion for the guitar. Raised in a musical family, Rusty is acquainted with almost all genres of music, bluegrass & gospel, country & blues, but deep down he was born a head banger.

Rusty has been involved in the Lawrence, KS/Kansas City club scene with his bands in the past, but has never had the pleasure of playing with a group as good as Big Smitty.

On stage, Rusty always has a great time, and people always notice something “odd” about him. There is, your not looking in a mirror, he really is left handed. Being a south paw, most would think it safe to assume his favorite guitarist is Jimi Hendrix, although Hendrix ranks high on the list, he is a VanHalen disciple through and through.

With a true rock sound, his natural talent shines through, making it hard to believe he has never had professional training. Everyone should always keep an eye on Rusty though; he is a true prankster and no one is ever safe.
